A wide range of industry in the U.K. and overseas increasingly needs people trained in radiometrics - for example in the nuclear power industry, medicine, environmental organisations, the oil and mining industries and organisations who are responsible for health and safety.
The University of Liverpool Nuclear Physics Group runs various courses aimed at those wishing to pursue a career in any part of industry which involves radiation or the use of radiation detectors.
The courses cover basic radiation principles, the use of detection systems and associated instrumentation applications and modelling techniques.
Here you can find details of the various courses in Radiometrics that can be studied.
There is a one year taught M.Sc. course with an emphasis on practicals and laboratory based techniques. There will be an opportunity during the course to carry out a project in industry. Information about the M.Sc. course is available:
The Postgraduate Certificate in Radioactive Waste Monitoring and Decommissioning is a modular course aimed at an understanding of radiation instrumentation and its use in the fields of radioactive waste monitoring and decommissioning. Information about the Postgraduate Certificate course is available:
The University also offers a number of 5-day, 2-day and 1-day courses on various Radiometrics subjects. Information about the Radiometrics Short Courses is available:
