The Gaussian distribution can be seen through the everyday example of shooting at a target.

To see how the shots are distributed about the bull's eye in both the  horizontal and vertical planes.

These distributions are symmetrical and continuous. 

The shots can plotted either as points on the target or as projected histograms on the vertical and horizontal axes,  which illustrate better the form of the distributions.

You can improve your aim by reducing the standard deviation (sd)
