Pair production peak 

A minimum energy of 1022 keV is required for pair production events to occur. If the incident gamma-ray energy E_g exceeds this value, the excess energy is shared by the electron-positron pair formed. The positron decays to give two 511 keV gamma-rays. This results in the pair production peak at 511 keV, also called the annihilation peak.
