Photoelectron

When a gamma-ray photon interacts with a bound electron in an atom, it may give up all of its energy to this atomic electron. This bound electron is ejected with an energy equal to that of the gamma-ray photon minus the binding energy of the bound electron. This ejected electron is termed a photoelectron.
