Absolute efficiency
Up Next

The absolute efficiency is the ratio of the measured count rate within the peak to the gamma ray emission rate of the source.
eabs  =

Number of pulses recorded

Number of radiation quanta emitted by source

dependent on detector properties and details of counting geometry. Therefore:

Efficiency =

Peak area

Live time ´ emission probability ´ source activity
