First Announcement of the workshop on Physics with Euroball Detectors at GSI November 23 - 24, 2000 GSI Darmstadt It has been agreed to move the Euroball Cluster and Clover Ge-detectors to GSI in 2003 for experimental campaigns with exotic beams. The SIS/FRS facility at GSI provides challenging new possibilities: by fragmentation or fission of relativistic heavy ions several hundred unstable rare isotopes can be generated with sufficient intensity for in-beam spectroscopy for the first time. Secondary beams can even be produced in high spin isomeric states. The beams can be used either at high energies (100-200 MeV/u), for Coulomb excitation and fragmentation reactions, or slowed down to Coulomb barrier energies, enabling fusion and direct reactions. In this workshop we want to discuss ideas, propositions and perspectives for a nuclear structure program employing the Euroball detectors at the FRS. The emphasis is on future experiments, which exploit the unique opportunities, not on status reports of the past. The Gamma-array configurations and ancillary detectors to be built and the beams to be provided will be discussed. The details depend on the experiments being suggested by you, the users. Besides a technical introduction we will have invited and selected talks. Sufficient time is foreseen for open, creative and stimulating discussions. Information about this project and links to other relevant pages can be found on GSI's VEGA/Euroball webpage at http://www-gsi-vms.gsi.de/eb/html/eb_at_gsi.html This information is currently being updated, so visit the web-site for more information. For participation and contribution to the workshop please fill in the questionaire below. Another circular with a preliminary program and organisatorial information will be sent out in October. We are looking forward to meeting you at GSI to launch with you a new project for nuclear spectroscopy.
