We would like to invite you to the:
REX-ISOLDE Physics Workshop and Users Meeting
to be held from December 16 to 18, 2002 in the Council Chamber, Bldg 503 at CERN, Geneva, Switzerland.
The ISOLDE Collaboration and the ISOLDE Physics Group are organizing jointly a Physics Workshop and Users Meeting at CERN. This workshop aims at bringing together the present and prospective ISOLDE user community to review the status of the REX-ISOLDE experimental programme and to discuss future plans and ideas. REX has already accelerated several species of radioactive ions, e.g. 10,000 ions/s of Na-29 and it has been demonstrated that REX can accelerate mass 140 ions with efficiency of a few percent of the ion source yield (see the ISOLDE web page) The maximum energy at present is 2.2 MeV/A; this will soon be upgraded to 3.1MeV/A and plans are in place to increase the energy further to 4.3 MeV/A
CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS
Apart from a few key-note speakers, we solicit contributions
on REX physics.
Contributions from research at other radioactive ion beam facilities are also warmly welcomed.
Please send a title of your contribution together with your
registration by October 31. For more information on this issue please
feel free to contact the scientific secretary of the workshop
Serge Franchoo (serge.franchoo@cern.ch).
PRACTICAL ORGANIZATION
Registration of the workshop should
be done by filling out the registration form (see below) and
sending it to the ISOLDE secretary (isolde.secretariat@cern.ch)
before October 31. Hotel
reservation can be made via e-mail to: cern.hostel@cern.ch.
PLEASE QUOTE "REX-ISOLDE WORKSHOP" WHEN RESERVING THE ROOM.
If there
are no rooms left at CERN, you may ask the ISOLDE secretary (isolde.secretariat@cern.ch)
to find you a room in a hotel. In that case, please specify
whether it should be in France or Switzerland, what class of hotel
you would like to have and at what time you will be arriving.
Financial support to cover part of the travel and lodging cost is
available for young researchers (see registration form).
Looking forward to meet you at the workshop
