Sources of gamma radiation
Up Next

In this first section, an introduction to the main gamma sourcesis given, together with their associated values, peak energies and half-lives.

Learning outcomes
After completing this section, you should be able to:

  • Identify the main gamma sources from the energy position at which the peaks appear in the spectrum;
  • Identify and distinguish between gamma sources;
  • List activity and main energies of a gamma source.

From these, a spectrum of a gamma ray should be energy calibrated by the characteristic of that known gamma source.
