Spectroscopy amplifier
Previous Up Next

Two primary functions are conventionally provided by the linear amplifier element in the pulse processing chain: pulse shaping and amplitude gain.

The conflicting requirements placed on pulse shaping from consideration of signal-to-noise, ballistic deficit and pulse pile-up must be weighed for each potential application.

The key functions are described in the following simulations:

Pile-up rejection
Shaping time constant
Pole zero adjustment
Gain
Baseline restorer
