- Neutron emission is not produced as a result of any convenient
radioactive decay process. Neutron sources are thus more limited
and are based on either spontaneous
fission or on nuclear reactions for which the incident particle is
the product of a conventional decay process.
- There are four different categories of neutrons, depending on their
energy:
- Fast neutrons
- Thermal neutrons
- Epithermal neutrons
- Cold neutrons
